The Yankees pitcher Left Gomez allowed only 4 runs on 6 hits as the Yankees chased Giants starting pitcher Hal Schumacher after only 2 innings. The Yankees got hits from every player in the lineup and 5 RBIs each from catcher Bill Dickey and 2b Tony Lazzeri, both had HRs.
The Third game of the 1936 World Series moved to Yankee Stadium. Game 3 was a pitcher’s duel won by the Yankees pitcher Bump Hadley. Hadely surrendered 10 hits but only allowed 1 run over 8 innings. Pat Malone finished off the game by pitching in the 9th inning. Freddie Fitzsimmons of the Giants only allowed 4 Yankees hits but one of those hits was a solo HR by Lou Gehrig in the 2nd inning. The Yankees scored the game winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning when a Frankie Crosetti single scored Jake Powell.
The Yankees won the fourth game of the 1936 World Series played at Yankee Stadium 5-2 to take a commanding 3 games to 1 series lead. Giants pitching ace Carl Hubbell gave up 4 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Yankees pitcher Monte Pearson gave up only 2 runs in 9 innings of work. The Yankees Lou Gehrig hit the games only HR, a 2 run shot in the 3rd inning.
The fifth game of the 1936 World Series remained at Yankees Stadium as the Giants won a close 5-4 game in extra innings. The Giants jumped out to a 3 run lead in the first inning against Yankees pitcher Red Ruffing. The Yankees got a solo HR from George Selkirk in the 2nd and a single run in the 3rd to draw close at 3-2. The Giants plated another run in the 6th for a 4-2 lead but the Yankees tied it with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. The score remained tied at 4 until the top of the 10th when Bill Terry drove in Jo-Jo Moore on a sacrifice fly. The Yankees failed to score in the bottom of the 10th giving the Giants a much needed win. Giants pitcher Hal Schumacher pitched all 10 innings for the win and Yankees relief pitcher Pat Malone only gave up that lone 10th inning run but took the loss.
The sixth game of the 1936 World Series moved back to the Polo Grounds. The game was close before the Yankees broke out with 7 runs in the top of the 9th inning to win the game 13-5. Lefty Gomez got the win for the Yankees as Freddie Fitzsimmons took the loss. Mel Ott hit his only HR of the series as did Jo-Jo Moore. Jake Moore hit his only HR of the series for the Yankees.

The Yankees got 2 wins from their ace Lefty Gomez and solid pitching from relievers Pat Malone and Johnny Murphy. The Giants were led by their star Dick Bartell who hit 1 HR and had a .381 batting average. Mel Ott added a HR and hit .304. Giants ace Carl Hubbell had one great outing and one not so great as he went 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA. Hal Schumacher won the only other game for the Giants Pitching staff.
