They built their new stadium in the Bronx, across the Harlem River from the Polo Gounds. 1923 was the inaugural season for Yankee Stadium. The Yankees and Giants had met in the previous 2 World Series in 1921 and 1922 with the Giants winning both Series.

Game 4 of the 1923 World Series was back at the Polo Grounds where the Yankees jumped out on the Giants early when they scored 6 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. They added single runs in the top of the 3rd and 4th inning to take a commanding 8-0 lead. They would hold on to win the game by a score of 8-4.
